Pre-K: Math

Numbers 0-5

Take a number walk!

As your child learns to identify numbers 0 to 5, point them out whenever you see them “in the wild,” like on buses, street signs, or grocery stores. Once your child can identify these numbers on their own, challenge them to find the numbers in order as you take a walk through the neighborhood or on a car ride.

Number Fingers with Brain Quest Write and Erase: Preschool Skills

Match numbers to fingers. Write a number 1- 5 on the white board and show your child. Challenge them to hold up that many fingers. Correct them and model the fingers for them if they have trouble. Many children have trouble holding their pinky down for “3”, so holding their ring finger is another option.

Connecting numbers to their fingers adds a tool for children as they work on early math skills. Encourage them to use their fingers whenever they count.
